At Foot Notes Dance Studio our first goal is to make sure you are having fun while you learn to dance! Our students are people who are hoping to gain confidence and comfort on the dance floor while taking dance lessons. We offer an “Absolute Beginner Program” designed for students with no dance experience. Many of the Absolute Beginner students come to us thinking they have two left feet and are surprised to find that, with qualified instruction, learning to dance is easier than they thought it would be. The “Absolute Beginner Program” ballroom dance lessons cover the dances that are most often used in social settings: Waltz, Foxtrot, Rumba and Jive.
We offer many different levels of American Style Ballroom dance instruction. Our dance programs are based on, and follow, the DVIDA American Style Smooth and Rhythm Syllabus. We start with the basics, and add new dances and technique at every level. This allows students to add to their repertoire at an easy and comfortable pace while increasing their knowledge and comfort level in the dances they already know.
Our Absolute Beginners Ballroom program is designed for people who have no previous dance instruction (learning the Macarena at your uncles wedding doesn't count!) and have the desire to gain confidence on the social dance floor. The program focuses on the four most common social dances, Waltz, Foxtrot, Jive and Rumba. If you can do all four of these, you can dance the night away at most social events!
The course is held over 8 weeks. It is an hour and half in duration for a total of 12 hours of instruction. During the course you will learn how to do the basic steps and two to three patterns in each dance. You will learn to recognize when to use these dances, and you will learn basic technique, like frame and posture.
